Any shape here can be built to a custom footprint, depth, color or print against tooling. We hold 3,000+ moulds in-house and cut new moulds from a drawing or sample. See custom foil containers for the full make-to-shape process.

Why a Purpose-Built Shape Beats a Generic Pan

Some foods need a shape a standard pan does not have. Here is what a specialty or custom foil container does that a round or rectangular pan cannot.

Shaped for the Food

A pizza pan, a poultry roaster or a hot dog tray holds its food the way a generic pan cannot — right footprint, right depth, right venting. Purpose-built shapes cut spillage, cook evenly and fit the dish.

Better Presentation

Specialty shapes present food the way it sells — scalloped cups for desserts, trays that hold taco shells upright, fluted forms for baked goods. The shape is part of the product on shelf and at the table.

Custom Moulds, Your Design

With 3,000+ moulds and our own tooling, we make shapes to your drawing. Send a sample or a spec and we build the mould — novelty, seasonal, branded, or a format your line needs that nobody stocks. See custom foil containers.

Small-Format Cups & Ramekins

Foil cups and ramekins handle sauces, dips, single desserts, portion control and baking. Small formats round out a foil program without adding a separate supplier.

Same Food-Grade Aluminum

Specialty shapes use the same food-grade aluminum as standard pans — oven, grill and freezer safe, recyclable, FDA and BRC compliant. The shape changes; the material and safety do not. They are not microwave compatible.

FAQs

What counts as a specialty aluminum foil container?

A specialty foil container is any purpose-built or odd shape outside the standard round, rectangular and oval formats — pizza pans, poultry and turkey roasters, broiler pans, taco and hot dog trays, scalloped foil cups, ramekins and novelty shapes. If a food needs a shape a generic pan does not have, it belongs here.

Can you make a fully custom shape?

Yes. With 3,000+ moulds and our own tooling, we make shapes from your drawing or sample. Tell us the format, depth and any venting or compartments, and we build the mould for novelty, seasonal, branded or line-specific formats. See custom foil containers.

What is the process and lead time for a custom mould?

A custom shape follows a sample-and-approval flow: we quote from your drawing, cut the mould, send samples for sign-off, lock a gold sample, then run bulk. The mould step adds time up front but gives you a format nobody else stocks.

Are specialty foil pans oven and freezer safe?

Yes. Specialty shapes use the same food-grade aluminum as standard pans, so they go from freezer to oven and grill and are recyclable. Plastic dome and board lids are not for the oven, and the pans are not microwave compatible.

Do you make small formats like foil cups and ramekins?

Yes. We make foil cups, ramekins and small portion shapes for sauces, dips, single desserts and baking, alongside the larger specialty pans — one supplier for the whole format range.

Are specialty foil containers recyclable and food safe?

Yes. Specialty foil containers are food-grade aluminum, non-toxic and 100% recyclable. They meet FDA and EU food-contact rules, and the factory holds FDA, BRC, ISO, SGS, Kosher and BSCI certification.

What is the minimum order for custom-shaped pans?

Minimum order depends on the shape and whether a new mould is needed. Custom shapes follow a sample-and-approval flow before bulk. Send the shape and volume, and we will confirm the right MOQ and lead time.

A Guide to Specialty and Custom-Shaped Foil Containers

Most foil packaging is round or rectangular because most food fits those shapes. Specialty containers exist for the food that does not — a pizza, a whole turkey, a row of tacos, a tray of scalloped desserts. This guide covers what makes a container "specialty," the common shapes and what they are for, and how a custom shape goes from a drawing to a bulk run.

What Makes a Container “Specialty”

A specialty foil container is any format built for a specific food or presentation rather than for general use. Sometimes that means a footprint a standard pan does not have — a wide, shallow pizza pan or a deep poultry roaster. Sometimes it means a feature — venting for crisping, compartments to keep food apart, or a decorative scalloped rim. The common thread is that the shape does a job a plain round or rectangular pan does poorly.

The Common Specialty Shapes — and What They’re For

  • Pizza pans: wide and shallow for even bake and easy slicing; common for takeaway pizza and flatbread.
  • Poultry and roaster pans: deep with strong walls and handles to carry a turkey or chicken with its juices.
  • Broiler and grill pans: shallow with a drip surface for grilling and serving in one pan.
  • Taco and hot dog trays: divided or ridged to hold shells and buns upright for street food and concessions.
  • Scalloped and fluted forms: decorative shapes for desserts, tarts and baked goods sold in the container.

Heart and square formats are specialty shapes too, with their own dedicated pages — see heart-shaped pans and square cake pans.

Foil Cups, Ramekins and Small Formats

At the small end, foil cups and ramekins do work plastic struggles with: they take oven heat for baked single desserts, hold sauces and dips without leaching, and portion food cleanly for meal kits and catering. Scalloped baking cups, straight-wall ramekins and mini trays round out a foil program so a buyer sources sauce cups and dessert forms from the same supplier as the main containers.

Going Custom — From Drawing to Mould to Bulk

A custom shape starts with a drawing or a physical sample. We quote the tooling, cut a mould, and send first samples for sign-off. Once the sample is approved and lot-numbered as the gold sample, it becomes the reference for bulk, so every run matches the first. The mould is the one-time step that turns a format only you sell into a stock item we can repeat. With 3,000+ moulds already in-house, many "custom" shapes are closer to an existing tool than buyers expect.

When a Custom Shape Is Worth the Tooling

A custom mould pays off when the shape is part of the product — a branded format, a portion that fits a meal-kit slot, a novelty or seasonal line, or a pack that differentiates you on shelf. If a standard pan would do the job and only convenience is at stake, an off-the-shelf shape is usually the better call. We will say so rather than sell tooling you do not need — the goal is the right format, not the most moulds.

Sourcing Specialty and Standard Together

Specialty shapes are easiest to run when they sit alongside the rest of a foil program. Sourcing pizza pans, foil cups, custom forms and everyday foil containers from one supplier keeps tooling, certification and freight in one place, and lets a custom shape ship in the same consolidated container as the standard lines.

Recyclability and Compliance

Specialty and custom foil containers are single-material aluminum and fully recyclable, the same as the standard range, and recycling aluminum uses a small share of the energy of primary production. Every shape, stock or custom, meets FDA and EU food-contact requirements, so a purpose-built pan clears North American, European and export markets without a separate compliance check.
